Kollus Live provides Kollus Live Encoder, a dedicated app that allows you to easily start a live stream from a mobile device.

Unlike typical encoder software that uses RTMP URL registration, this app lets you start broadcasting quickly by entering the Creator code and Creator stream key as an ID/password.

Step 1: Install the app and sign in

Prerequisites

The Kollus Live Encoder app requires a channel to be created before you can sign in. If no channel exists, the Creator information required for sign-in will not be generated. For instructions on creating a channel, refer to the document below.

  1. Install the app: Install the Kollus Live Encoder app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
  2. Launch the app: When the app launches, a popup requesting camera and microphone access will appear — you must approve it.
  3. Enter broadcast information (sign in): Enter the Creator code and Creator stream key.
    • This information can be found at Kollus Live console > [Channel] > [Channel list] > [Edit] on the right side of the target channel > [Creator code] tab at the bottom.

Step 2: Configure live streaming settings

Before starting a broadcast, select the encoding options that match your network environment and broadcast purpose from the [Settings] menu in the upper right corner.

Kollus Live Encoder supports two modes: [Video+Audio] and [Audio].
When [Audio] mode is selected, the Snapshot area is automatically hidden.

Step 3: Start and stop live streaming

  1. Check the recording orientation before streaming: Before starting, you must determine the device orientation to match the configured encoding profile. If the orientations do not match, the viewing screen may appear rotated or cropped.
    • Landscape recording: When the encoding profile is [Default - landscape]
    • Portrait recording: When the encoding profile is [Default - portrait]
    • Where to check: Kollus Live console > [Channel] > [Channel list] > [Edit] on the right side of the target channel > [Encoding profile]
    Cannot change recording orientation

Once a broadcast has started, rotating the device will not change the recording orientation. To change the orientation, you must stop and restart the broadcast, so be sure to check before starting.

  2. Start streaming: Press the start broadcast button (the red circular button in the center of the screen) to begin live streaming.
  3. In-broadcast controls: During a broadcast, you can control various features by tapping the icons on the screen.
    • Microphone control: Turn audio input On/Off.
    • Audio level meter: Check in real time whether audio is being input correctly via a bar graph.
    • Camera switch: Instantly switch between the front (selfie) and rear cameras.
    • Flash: Turn the flash on or off when using the rear camera in dark environments.
    • Video filter: Supports a total of 5 filters to create a broadcast atmosphere in real time.
  4. End broadcast: Press the end broadcast button (the red square button in the center of the screen) to stop the broadcast.

⚠️ Cautions

Please make sure to check the following for stable streaming.

  • Battery management: Keep the battery level at 30% or above. If the battery is low, it is recommended to stream while connected to a power cable.
  • Disable power saving mode: If the mobile device's power saving mode is enabled, streaming performance may degrade, so be sure to disable it.
  • Prevent streaming interruptions: Incoming phone calls may interrupt streaming. It is safer to enable airplane mode and connect via Wi-Fi, or to use a separate device (such as a tablet).
  • Close background apps: To secure resources, close all other running apps and run only the encoder app.
