The country-based access control feature is a security tool that selectively restricts IP access from specific countries along the content delivery path. This allows you to protect content with limited copyright distribution regions or effectively defend against abnormal traffic attacks from specific countries.

Country-based access control policy​

Depending on your business purpose, you can choose and operate one of the following two security policies.

  • Whitelist (allow) method: Allow access only from specific countries that are the target of the service, and completely block all other overseas access.
  • Blacklist (block) method: Block access from specific countries where the risk of content leakage is high or where the service is not needed, and allow playback from the remaining countries.

How to configure country access settings​

You can establish country-based security policies on a per-channel basis.

  1. Go to [Channel] in the Kollus VOD console.
  2. In the channel list on the left side of the screen, click [More options] > [Country access settings] for the target channel.
  3. Select the target country, then click [Allow] or [Block] according to your purpose to add it to the list.
    • Duplicate registration restriction: The same country can only belong to either the allow list or the block list.
    • List management: Countries registered in the list can be quickly deleted by clicking the trash icon on the right.
  4. After finalizing your review of the country list, click outside the settings window to save automatically, and the policy will be immediately applied to all content in the channel.
