Concurrent Playback Prevention

Concurrent playback prevention is a core security feature that protects copyright and blocks unauthorized account sharing by preventing a single account (user ID) from consuming content simultaneously across multiple devices.
This feature operates based on two main mechanisms.
- Device whitelist: Allows playback only on pre-authenticated devices.
- Session concurrency control: Limits the number of playback sessions that can be active at the same time.
Kollus VOD maps the customer user ID(client_user_id) and player ID (unique device identifier) to verify the playback environment in real time.
Customers can flexibly manage their service through the Kollus VOD console by immediately force-terminating sessions suspected of unauthorized sharing or resetting the list of registered devices.
The concurrent playback prevention feature is disabled by default. To activate this feature, refer to the Concurrent playback prevention policy and contact your Account Manager(biz@catenoid.net) or Technical Support(tech_support@catenoid.net).
⚠️ Pre-checklist
- Device quantity policy: The number of devices that can play simultaneously per account can be set to a maximum of 10. Differential application according to the operating environment (PC, mobile, etc.) can be arranged through separate consultation.
- Player compatibility (See Also: Kollus Player types)
- Kollus Web Player
- Kollus HTML5 Player for PC
- Kollus App Player
Concurrent playback prevention policy
Kollus VOD provides a total of 4 powerful security options to suit your business model. Policy changes are reflected in real time as soon as they are saved in the Kollus VOD console.
| Policy | Description |

| Do not use | Simultaneous playback on multiple devices is allowed without restriction. |
| One device at a time | Without a device registration process, playback is only available on the last device that attempted to play. |
| Concurrent playback on registered devices | Registered devices can freely play simultaneously. |
| One registered device at a time | Playback is only available on one device among the registered devices. |
Registered device limit
Set the number of devices allowed per account under Kollus VOD console > [Settings] > [Concurrent playback prevention] > [Registered device limit].
- Range: You can specify a minimum of 1 device to a maximum of 10 devices per user ID.
- Integrated device management: PCs, mobile phones, tablets, and other devices are managed together as a total count without distinction.
- Differential policy: If you want to set individual limits by device type, such as '1 PC + 2 mobile devices', contact your Account Manager(biz@catenoid.net) or Technical Support(tech_support@catenoid.net).
