Original File Management

Original File refers to the source file that a customer first uploads to the Kollus VOD system before transcoding is performed. By default, original files are automatically deleted after transcoding is complete for storage efficiency.
However, by enabling the Save Original Files feature, the original source is securely retained alongside the converted files. Using this feature allows you to respond immediately in the following situations without the hassle of re-uploading content:
- When a playback or quality issue occurs with specific content and the original file needs to be reviewed
- When additional transcoding needs to be performed with a new encoding profile applied
- Cost and capacity management: Since both the original file and transcoded files are stored simultaneously, the total storage usage may increase significantly. Periodically check your storage quota.
- Re-upload required on task failure: If a technical error occurs during the transcoding process causing a task to fail, the original file will be automatically deleted per system policy. In such cases, you must re-upload the raw source file to restart the task.

- All content uploaded thereafter will have its original file retained on the server even after transcoding is complete.
