Kollus VOD provides multilingual subtitle functionality to enhance user immersion and expand information accessibility.
Subtitle registration methods
You can configure subtitles in two ways depending on the nature of the content and available resources.
- Manual upload: Upload subtitle files (SRT, VTT) you already have and manage them directly.
- AI Subtitle auto-generation: If no subtitle file is available, AI speech recognition technology analyzes the audio in the video and automatically generates subtitles.
Using the AI Subtitle feature can dramatically reduce the time and cost of manual subtitle creation and upload.

Subtitle types
The Kollus Player can operate two subtitle layers independently. Configure your subtitle policy according to the characteristics of each type.
| Subtitle type | Key features | Recommended use | Display limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main subtitle | Displayed at standard size in the lower center of the player | Delivering primary dialogue | No line limit |
| Sub subtitle | Displayed in smaller size below the main subtitle | Multilingual translation, terminology notes | Displays up to 2 lines maximum |

Subtitle editing
Kollus VOD provides a dedicated editor that allows you to directly modify subtitle text in a web browser without additional editing software.
The subtitle editor supports SRT format only, and VTT files cannot be edited. If you need to modify a VTT file, edit it locally and re-upload it.
The subtitle editing feature is fully available even for deactivated content that has been taken out of distribution.
How to use the subtitle editor
- Click the title of the target content in Kollus VOD console > [Library] or [Channel].
- In the [Subtitle] tab, click the edit icon on the right side of the subtitle you want to edit.
- In the subtitle editor window, review the preview video while modifying the subtitle text. Refer to Key features of the subtitle editor for convenient use of the subtitle editor.
- Click [Editing complete] to apply changes to the service.
Key features of the subtitle editor
The subtitle block corresponding to the current playback position automatically scrolls into view, allowing you to immediately compare dialogue and text while making corrections.
- Note: During editing, subtitles are displayed at the main subtitle position regardless of settings, to aid readability.
You can freely modify the text of each subtitle block.
- Note: Sub subtitles are valid for up to 2 lines due to player rendering characteristics, so please be careful when adding line breaks.
When you click a subtitle block and begin typing, the video automatically pauses, enabling precise editing without missing any section.
You can control whether this is enabled via the options at the bottom of the player.

You can correct proper nouns or repeated typos all at once. Use the menu that appears when you drag a specific word to replace that text across the entire dataset.

Unnecessary blank lines in subtitles can cause player malfunctions. The system has a dual correction mechanism to prevent this.
- Real-time correction: Blank lines are detected and automatically deleted as soon as you leave the input field.
- Final correction: When you click [Editing complete], the entire dataset is re-inspected to proactively prevent errors.
- Auto-save every 1 minute: Editing history is backed up to the server in real time.
- Browser restore: In the event of an unexpected closure, data from the last saved point is recovered.
Separately from auto-save, all modifications must be applied to the service by clicking [Editing complete].
