Replace with Another Content
Replace with Another Content is an efficient management tool used when you need to modify the content of an already distributed video or update it to a new version. You can change only the physical file source while keeping the existing playback URL and media content key intact.
Since only the source is replaced without having to individually update embed codes already inserted into web pages or mobile apps, this feature can dramatically reduce resources when operating large-scale services.
Content file replacement procedure
Step 1: upload new content for replacement
- Go to Kollus VOD console > [Library].
- Click [Content upload] in the upper right to upload the new content.
- Verify that transcoding of the content is complete and that it is in a playable state.
Step 2: select the content to replace
- Select the target channel from the [Channel] menu.
- Click [More options (⋮)] > [Replace with another content] on the right side of the content to be replaced.
Step 3: map the new file and replace
- In the popup window, select the content uploaded in Step 1. (Click the radio button on the left.)
- Click [Replace], then click [Confirm] in the confirmation dialog to complete the replacement.
⚠️ Cautions
Be sure to understand the following technical constraints for data integrity when replacing content.
- Duplicate registration restriction: Content already registered in the target channel cannot be used as a replacement.
- Security attribute match: Encrypted content can only be replaced with encrypted content, and standard content(unencrypted) can only be replaced with standard content(unencrypted). (For encrypted content, a lock icon is displayed on the poster image.)
- Media type match: Replacement between a video file and an audio file is not supported.
